About MIFA

MIFA was founded in 1992 by local residents to create opportunities for all people in Monroe County and surrounding areas to experience and explore other cultures.

It is dedicated to letting people give expression to their common desire for friendship, goodwill, and cooperation toward a better world for all.

MIFA is a private, non-profit organization supported by a broad spectrum of the community.  All MIFA members are volunteers who dedicate their own time for activities.

MIFA's main activity is an "Exchange Student" program with the Sister city of Monroe, Hofu, Yamaguchi in Japan.  Our program is recognized and supported by JBSD (Japan Business Society of Detroit) and we receive donations from them.  We are also supported by Rotary Club of Monroe  and Aisin World Corp of America.

MIFA meets once a month, the 3rd Monday of each month at Monroe City Hall.

Please see the calendar for meeting dates.
